the derv skills sounds better, id have to play with both but only dervishes can use imbue since its in the Myst line. If you have Myst Derv in your group it is a great support heal though

Infuse, imo. Heals a lot more, which is what you need in a spike - there's usually an equally-as-damaging follow-up.

So you're judging the effectiveness of two similar skills off a level 15 character without a vigor rune?
[skill]Infuse Health[/skill] is simply better than [skill]Imbue health[/skill]. If you run Imbue on a backline character, like you do with infuse, you will get an extremely impressive 5% of current heal. That's what? 30? And do you seriously think that a dervish who's busy attacking will have the time to watch for, and catch spikes? There's also the matter of no recharge time against 10 seconds, and no heal cap versus a cap of 300.
Also, as for your suggestion of Vital Boon>Imbue>SoPL>SoPL, your running a pure earth and mysticism for two mediocre heals, one of which has a 20s charge after the second cast, and an average self heal. How is that either going to stop a spike, or provide a half decent contribution to healing? A standard Infuser can outdo that with Infuse>LoD.
Dervishes are melee characters designed for high pressure. Trying to make one into a healer really isn't a good idea. It's not that Imbue is a bad skill, but it is much better suited to the occasional pressure let off than a full time spike stopper.
One last, slightly unrelated point. If you want to be taken seriously, don't claim to 'pwn' people after suggesting a 3-4 second casting chain for stopping a spike, then resort to making retarded comments about shields. What exactly does that have to do with Infuse or Imbue?

I couldn't care less how many monks and level 20s you have. That doesn't change the fact that you're insisting an inferior skill is better than the accepted by spike catching skill, and to appearing to be an immature idiot while you're at it.

comparison:
Imbue: pretty effective heal that can be used without alot of though on almost any derv.
Infuse: the most powerful fastest heal in the game. can only be use by backline characters and should have mending touch or something to recover.
if your talking about pure healing output imbue dosnt even compare to infuse. its a nice skill but not a primary heal for the team.

From a monk's perspective, neither of the skills replace each other. Imbue is used when your monks are starting to break. Countless are the times when a single imbue has saved my life, or the life of a teammate because I am knocked down or otherwise unable to heal. When monks are really starting to feel pressure, imbue is a lifesaver.
Infuse is used because it is reliable, a monk skill (non-primary like mysticism), and can be followed up with LoD for a dual heal (or better).
Imbue is not used (as infuse) because it is primary, and conditional. If your dervish is sitting at half health, he isn't going to save the spike. I guarantee it. Also, as mentioned above, the Dervish should be focusing on killing the other team, not watching party bars to "infuse".

One open skill slot. Max Armor, Radiant Armor, Dunewalker's Hood, Rune of Superior Vigor, Major Rune of Mysticism, Minor Rune of Earth Prayers, Insightful Ether Staff of Enchanting with +5 ^ Enchanted. Two open rune slots.
Mysticism: 12 + 1 + 2
Earth Prayers: 12 + 1
I haven't much worked with this build since I was given a copy of it, but my impression is that the concept is immensely powerful and the implementation is a bit weak. It just begs to borrow skills from another profession, and it would probably lend very well to Wind Prayers.

Half of that bar is filled with enchants that can only target the caster. The other half are crap heals when compared to what a monk can do.
